Mission:
mission statement for the formation of an IEEE Local Group on Climate Change under the Bombay Section: The IEEE Bombay Local Group on Climate Change will be established to provide a forum for interdisciplinary collaboration and thought leadership on addressing climate change challenges relevant to the Bombay region. The Local Group aims to leverage expertise of IEEE members and other professionals to advance research, develop technical solutions, and promote awareness to combat climate change. It will facilitate knowledge sharing and advocacy around mitigation and adaptation strategies for Bombay. Operating in alignment with the Bombay Section, the Local Group will organize activities like talks, hackathons, conferences, and outreach campaigns. It will engage with policymakers, academic circles, industries and civil society to highlight specific climate risks for the region and enable evidence-based climate action. The Local Group will attract members across IEEE disciplines as well as non-members interested in applying science and technology to tackle climate change. It will function transparently within IEEE guidelines to build Bombay's resilience against climate impacts and usher in a sustainable, low-carbon future.

Main Activities:
Potential main activities for the IEEE Bombay Local Group on Climate Change: Host seminars and workshops to discuss latest research and innovations for climate change mitigation and adaptation. Organize hackathons and interdisciplinary projects to develop tech-based solutions relevant to climate threats facing Bombay. Run an annual conference on climate change priorities and actions needed for Bombay region across sectors. Partner with local universities, civic bodies and industries to assess Bombay's climate vulnerabilities and formulate action plans. Promote IEEE climate change programs and initiatives among members and encourage participation. Collaborate with student chapters and local partners on climate change-related education and community outreach. Represent IEEE in key climate change policy dialogues and consultation processes in the city. Publish thought leadership articles and blogs to highlight potential of technology in enabling climate resilience and adaptation in Bombay. Maintain website and social media channels focused on exchange of ideas, data, tools related to regional climate change priorities. Recognize exceptional student projects and research tackling climate issues relevant to Bombay through competitions. Organize grassroots awareness campaigns on climate risks and encourage sustainable behaviors among citizens.
